Ethiopia’s Satellite Jamming Condemned

June 9, 2014
The Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) has condemned intentional jamming of broadcasts carried on Arabsat and Eutelsat satellites.AIB is lodging protests with the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry and its Missions
Programming from a range of regional and international broadcasters has been affected by jamming that technical research shows emanates from the territory of Ethiopia.
The jamming has affected AIB Members including the BBC, Deutsche Welle, France 24 and Voice of America, as well as a number of other channels from the Middle East and North America.
The deliberate harmful interference targeting Arabsat and Eutelsat and the broadcast channels these two satellite operators carry for viewers and listeners across the Middle East and Africa contravenes international agreements that govern the operation of satellite systems and the use of the radio frequency spectrum.

Malaysia Airlines Families Faint, Cry, Scream Over News

The family members of the passengers on board Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 screamed, cried and fainted when they were told by airline officials today there was no hope their loved ones would be found alive.

At the Lido Hotel in Beiijing, where some families have been gathering for a painful 17 days awaiting news, one woman was so overcome with grief that she fainted and had to be taken out on a stretcher. Get All the Latest Updates on the Vanished Malaysia Airlines Plane

The announcement that officials believe the jetliner plunged into a remote part of the Indian Ocean triggered an explosion of grief and anger. Cries of anguish could be heard coming from a room where relatives had congregated. Women screamed and men cursed and the live news conference from Malaysia was cut off. About 50 police officers arrived and at least one scuffle broke out.
A woman emerged to tell the media, "Tell the world it is not true, it's wrong," she pleaded. Other slapped at the cameras and microphones of the media.
"My children didn’t die, they must have been hidden somewhere," a woman wailed. "How can I trust this government?"

Within minutes of the presser beginning, an ambulance pulled up at the hotel and three stretchers were taken inside. The security and family members are screaming at the press to get out of the way. One woman was hunched over on a stretcher wailing as a medic rubbed her back and asked her to try to calm down.
A Chinese woman told ABC News that she and her husband got emails in English that they could not expect any survivors.

At the Hotel Bangi Putrajaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the doomed flight originated, a one family emerged from a meeting with officials walking hand in hand and crying. Another group could be heard crying loudly from inside the hotel room.
Others were clearly distraught. One crying woman hit the wall and yelled something which could not be understood.Read more about from http://gma.yahoo.com/malaysia-airlines-families-faint-cry-scream-over-news-144120912--abc-news-topstories.html

Malaysian leader: Plane's disappearance deliberate

Malaysian PM Najib addresses reporters as Transport Minister Hussein stands by him, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — The missing Malaysian jetliner was deliberately diverted and continued flying for more than six hours after losing contact with the ground, meaning it could have gone as far northwest as Kazakhstan or into the Indian Ocean's southern reaches, Malaysia's leader said Saturday.
Prime Minister Najib Razak's statement confirmed days of mounting speculation that the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 to Beijing more than a week ago was not accidental. It refocused the investigation into the flight's crew and passengers and underlined the massive task for searchers who already have been scouring vast areas of ocean.

"Clearly the search for MH370 has entered a new phase," Najib said at a televised news conference. Najib stressed that investigators were looking into all possibilities as to why the Boeing 777 deviated so drastically from its original flight path, saying authorities could not confirm whether it was a hijacking. Earlier Saturday, a Malaysian official said the plane had been hijacked, though he added that no motive had been established and no demands had been made known.

"In view of this latest development, the Malaysian authorities have refocused their investigation into the crew and passengers on board," Najib told reporters, reading from a written statement but not taking any questions.
Police on Saturday drove into the residential compound where the missing plane's pilot lives in Kuala Lumpur, according a guard and several local reporters who were barred from entering the complex. Authorities have said they will investigate the pilots as part of their probe, but have released no information about how they are progressing.
Experts have previously said that whoever disabled the plane's communication systems and then flew the jet must have had a high degree of technical knowledge and flying experience. One possibility they have raised was that one of the pilots wanted to commit suicide.
The plane was carrying 239 people when it departed for an overnight flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing at 12:40 a.m. on March 8. Its communications with civilian air controllers were severed at about 1:20 a.m., and the jet went missing — heralding one of the most puzzling mysteries in modern aviation history. Ethiopia Hijacker 'Threatened To Crash Plane'

A co-pilot who hijacked his own plane in a bid to gain asylum threatened to crash the aircraft, a passenger has claimed.

The Ethiopian man, who has been named as Hailemedehin Abera Tagegn, seized control of the Boeing 767 when the Italian pilot went to the toilet.
Ethiopian Airlines flight ET702, with 202 passengers and crew on board, had taken off from the Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, bound for Rome.

Passengers climb down an airplane ladder with their hands on their heads as police officers stand around hijacked Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 702 at Cointrin airport in Geneva

And passenger Francesco Cuomo told Italian news agency ANSA the pilot demanded the hijacker open the door and tried unsuccessfully to break it down.
He added the hijacker, speaking in poor English on a loudspeaker, threatened to crash the aircraft if the pilot persisted. The plane's oxygen masks then came down, Mr Cuomo said.

Another passenger, Diego Carpelli, told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera: "We had no clue about the hijacking but got scared when the plane suddenly started diving, it seemed like it was falling from the sky." Terror plot to turn Ethiopian Epiphany celebration into an inferno uncovered

January 17, 2014The Horn Times Breaking news
Report compiled by Getahune Bekele-South Africa

Christians and Muslim communities urged to be vigilant against the government’s plot…

Ethiopian Epiphany celebration in Addis Ababa
According to our well-placed sources in the inner circle of the ruling minority junta’s powerful and complex security apparatus, the regime has already assigned several well-trained and craven secret service agents dressed as Muslims to carry out massive bombing campaign during the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church’s Epiphany commemoration feast (Timket) on the 19th  and 20 January 2014.
The distinctly unpopular and even more feared government of Ethiopia, the godfather of terror and wanton destruction, impervious to its own People’s opinion, is now ready to use the TPLF homicide machine to inflict damage that would surpass the 2005 similar attack, which subdued the Ethiopians into modern day slavery for 22 years. The Worlds Icon Pass Away - Nilson R. Mandela

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (Xhosa pronunciation: [xoˈliːɬaɬa manˈdeːla]; 18 July 1918 – 5 December 2013) was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary as well as a politician and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering racial reconciliation. Politically an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as the President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1991 to 1997. Internationally, Mandela was the Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999.

 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/14/Nelson_Mandela-2008_%28edit%29.jpg
              Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela
A Xhosa born to the Thembu royal family, Mandela attended the Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand, where he studied law. Living in Johannesburg, he became involved in anti-colonial politics, joining the ANC and becoming a founding member of its Youth League. After the South African National Party came to power in 1948, he rose to prominence in the ANC's 1952 Defiance Campaign, was appointed superintendent of the organisation's Transvaal chapter and presided over the 1955 Congress of the People. Working as a lawyer, he was repeatedly arrested for seditious activities and, with the ANC leadership, was unsuccessfully prosecuted in the Treason Trial from 1956 to 1961. Although initially committed to non-violent protest, he co-founded the militant Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in 1961 in association with the South African Communist Party, leading a sabotage campaign against the apartheid government. In 1962 he was arrested, convicted of conspiracy to overthrow the government, and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rivonia Trial.

Mandela served 27 years in prison, initially on Robben Island, and later in Pollsmoor Prison and Victor Verster Prison. An international campaign lobbied for his release, which was granted in 1990 amid escalating civil strife. Mandela published his autobiography and opened negotiations with President F.W. de Klerk to abolish apartheid and establish multiracial elections in 1994, in which he led the ANC to victory. As South Africa's first black president Mandela formed a Government of National Unity in an attempt to defuse racial tension. He also promulgated a new constitution and created the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate past human rights abuses. Continuing the former government's liberal economic policy, his administration introduced measures to encourage land reform, combat poverty, and expand healthcare services. Internationally, he acted as mediator between Libya and the United Kingdom in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing trial, and oversaw military intervention in Lesotho. He declined to run for a second term, and was succeeded by his deputy, Thabo Mbeki. Mandela subsequently became an elder statesman, focusing on charitable work in combating poverty and HIV/AIDS through the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Although Mandela was a controversial figure for much of his life, he became widely popular following his release. Although right-wing critics who continued to denounce him as a communist sympathiser and terrorist, he gained international acclaim for his activism, having received more than 250 honours, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Soviet Order of Lenin. He is held in deep respect within South Africa, where he is often referred to by his Xhosa clan name, Madiba, or as Tata ("Father"); he is often described as "the father of the nation".

The Great Ethiopian Run (Nationalism)

November 23, 2013by Tedla Asfaw
In less than 24 hours some 37,000 will participate on the 13th Great Ethiopian Run (GER) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Out of which there are 500 elite runners from Ethiopia and another 500 from overseas. As always this platform will be used for

Great Ethiopian Run 2002
denouncing the ruling regime for its crimes
Tomorrow’s run which I rename it as The Great Ethiopian Rise (GER) is “historical” because it is on the weekend where the Ethiopian Diaspora staged in more than 35 cities all over the world protest rallies denouncing Saudi Arabia for killing, raping, beating and jailing Ethiopians close to the number that are now participating on the 13th GER.

The organizers of the GER rejected the call by the Blue Party of Ethiopia for all to put a black ribbon on their hands to remember those that are killed and are now suffering in Saudi at this moment. Unfortunately, the organizers rejected the call.
The good thing is the organizers have no control of the crowd “mouth”. They can remove from the race anyone with black ribbon in his or her pocket but they can not control the “brain” of the participants and the crowd who is watching the run.
The Ethiopian people protested in front of Saudi Embassy on Nov. 15 and were beaten and chased that is reported by world media the likes of Al Jazeera, Washington Posts and others. Ethiopian Satellite Television and Radio (ESAT) has followed the humanitarian crisis day by day by putting eye witness accounts from Riyadh.

The Ethiopian people are aware of what has been going on in Saudi Arabia and are very much proud of fellow Ethiopians for staging successful rallies ashamed Saudi and the ruling Woyane.
It is now time for Addis Ababa residents shaming Saudi and Woyane in the GER tomorrow. First we start with the Woyane security who beat the Saudi victims for the second time in their own soil. Woyane security has proven to the world that they are protecting Woyane and their foreign masters like that of Saudi regime to continue the modern slavery that profited both of them the slave trader and slave master. Shame on Woyane thugs.

Shimeles Kemal the spokesperson for “Arab League” attacked the Addis Ababa protesters by accusing them of as “Anti Arab”. Ethiopians have shown him and his masters that We Are Proud Ethiopians never to be enslaved by anyone including ARABS. Shame on Shimeles Kemal.

Tedros Adhanom the darling of the Woyane Supporters in the Diaspora should be ashamed of himself for using this humanitarian crisis to promote himself. His crocodile tear is an empty gesture shaming Hailemariam who said not a single word as a father of three daughters against the Rapist in Saudi Arabia. Shame on both of them.

It is a total shame for Woyane and their Saudi Masters who are now worried about their business in Ethiopia. The Arab media asked another Shameful Ethiopian so called Ambassador Mohammed Hassen what will be the future of Saudi business in Ethiopia which is close to 15 billion dollars. The shameful Ambassador promised it will be OK !!! Shame on Mohammed Hassen for his incompetency. He is accountable for the crimes committed against our people under his watch.

The bridge of Saudi Kingdom of Shame with Ethiopian Mafia is Al Amoudi. For him the rape, killing and beating of Ethiopians is not his “business” until his mafia business is OK. Saudi Business in no more OK in Ethiopia. That slavery bridge between us and Saudi is broken beyond repair. Never Again.
The GER is indeed will be turned into the “Great Ethiopian Rise “. Such humiliation has united Ethiopians more than ever in the last 22 years. This unity will bring the end of slavery in Ethiopia for good.

The successful rally in the Diaspora is the result of Ethiopians humiliation. Ethiopian Pride suffered a major bow. Each and every one of us are angry and should be angry by what our people endured in Saudi Arabia. Such humiliation will accelerate the Regime Change in Ethiopia, the Rise of Ethiopian Nationalism!

Chinese has a great lesson form their humiliation by West and Japan that brought the best out of them, Chinese Nationalism. Ethiopia which is quoted on Chairman Mao s book as example of fighting aggression will rise up soon fighting both home and foreign anti Ethiopia forces. Ethiopia’s Great Rise is Certain!

Federal Police attack Semayawi A
                              TPLF vs Ethiopia.

After 22 years of abuse, desperation, and poverty, this gutsy senior citizen has said enough is enough to TPLF. It looks like she wants to end what is left of here remaining years in dignity. And she has decided to pull the trigger and defend herself and everyone around her.
The issue now is a matter of survival. It is a choice between to be or not to be. It is TPLF vs Ethiopia. Who is going to win? The result depends on how we answer to the call of this heroic lady. She needs your help. Any takers? Source http://www.ethiofreedom.com/this-gutsy-lady-needs-your-help/

Saudi migrant crackdown closes shops, raises fears

In this Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 photo, Ethiopians gather as they wait to be repatriated in Manfouha, southern Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, garbage has piled up on streets around the mosque housing the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad. Groceries stores have shut their doors and almost half of the kingdom’s small construction firms have stopped working on projects. The economic chaos comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s crackdown on migrant workers, which began Nov. 4, targets the country’s more than 9 million foreign laborers. Decades of lax immigration enforcement allowed migrants to take low-wage manual, clerical and service jobs that the kingdom’s own citizens shunned for better paying, more comfortable work. (AP Photo)
.RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Garbage is piling up on streets around the mosque housing the burial site of the Prophet Muhammad. Grocery stores have shut their doors and almost half of Saudi Arabia's small construction firms have stopped working on projects.
The mess is because foreign workers on which many businesses rely are fleeing, have gone into hiding or are under arrest amid a crackdown launched Nov. 4 targeting the kingdom's 9 million migrant laborers. Decades of lax immigration enforcement allowed migrants to take low-wage manual, clerical and service jobs that the kingdom's own citizens shunned for better paying, more comfortable work.
Now, authorities say booting out migrant workers will open more jobs for citizens, at a time when unemployment among Saudis is running at 12.1 percent as of the end of last year, according to the International Monetary Fund. But the nationalist fervor driving the crackdown risks making migrant workers vulnerable to vigilante attacks by Saudis fed up with the seemingly endless stream of foreigners in their country.
The majority of workers hail from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as Egypt and Yemen. Others, mostly from east Africa, have never acquired visas, often taking perilous boat journeys across the Gulf of Aden to Yemen from where they cross illegally into the kingdom with the help of smugglers.
Since the Saudi government began issuing warnings earlier this year, hundreds of thousands of foreign workers have been deported, though some were able to avoid arrest by getting proper visas in an amnesty program. That amnesty ended last week, and some 33,000 people have since been placed behind bars. Others have gone into hiding.
With fewer people to do the job, the state-backed Saudi Gazette reported that 20,000 schools are without janitors. Others are without school bus drivers. Garbage became so noticeable around the mosque housing the Prophet Muhammad's tomb that a top city official in Medina helped sweep the streets, the state-backed Arab News website reported.
About 40 percent of small construction firms in the kingdom also have stopped work because their foreign workers couldn't get proper visas in time, Khalaf al-Otaibi, president of the World Federation of Trade, Industry and Economics in the Middle East, told Arab News.

Saudis say dozens of businesses like bakeries, supermarkets, gas stations and cafes are now closed. They say prices have also soared for services from mechanics, plumbers and electricians.

Adam Coogle, a Middle East researcher for Human Rights Watch, told The Associated Press that if the kingdom wants to be serious about the problem, authorities should look at the labor laws and not at the workers. Saudi Arabia's sponsorship system, under which foreign laborers work in the kingdom, gives employers say over whether or not a foreigner can leave the country or change jobs, forcing many into illegal employment.

"The entire system by which Saudi Arabia regulates foreign labor is failing," he said.
The owner of a multi-million dollar construction company in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, said he had to halt all of his projects. He told the AP he was not the legal sponsor of most of his laborers but that they made more money working as freelance hires.
"These people have worked in this country and their blood is in the stones and buildings," he said, speaking anonymously for fear of government reprisal. "You cannot just, like that, force them out."
Despite feeling the loss of the everyday work the foreign laborers provided, Saudis largely have cheered on the police. Residents have taken matters into their own hands on several occasions, despite police calling on the public not to make citizen arrests.

Over the weekend, Saudi residents of Riyadh's poor Manfouha neighborhood fought with Ethiopians, detaining some, until police arrived more than two hours later. Video emerged of a crowd of Saudis knocking on the door of an Ethiopian man's house, then dragging him out and beating him in the street. A Saudi and a migrant were killed and dozens wounded in the clashes.

The violence began when east Africans protesting the crackdown barricaded themselves in the narrow streets of Manfouha, throwing stones, threatening people with knives and damaging cars. Days earlier, an Ethiopian man was killed by police chasing down migrants.

Violence broke out again days later in the same neighborhood, and a Sudanese man was killed in clashes Wednesday. In the Red Sea coastal city of Jiddah in the poor al-Azaziya neighborhood, clashes also broke out when police combed the area for migrants.
"This is not racism or a lack of respect for diversity, but you cannot imagine how much negative comes from these groups instead of positive. These people, every day, cause problems," said Jiddah resident Abdulaziz al-Qahtani, who posted online video from the Riyadh clashes that he said a friend took.

Since the weekend clashes, Saudi officials say 23,000 Ethiopians, including women and children, have turned themselves in to the police. Authorities say most had no documentation of ever entering the kingdom and are being held in temporary housing ahead of deportation.

Ethiopia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that officials in Addis Ababa sought an explanation from Saudi Arabia's envoy over the "mistreatment" of Ethiopians in the kingdom. Workers from neighboring Yemen also face harassment. Yemeni Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman posted a picture last week on her Facebook page of what appeared to be a Saudi man in his car grabbing hold of a Yemeni man for a police officer.

Saudi columnist Abdul-Rahman al-Rashed cautioned Saudis to remember that without "a strong state and oil revenues" they too may have emigrated in search of work. "Those deprived of the chance of a proper life can understand the feeling of those wanting to seek a better life," he wrote in the Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.

Isaias Afewerki has been president of Eritrea since its independence in 1993 [Reuters]
Just as the Horn of Africa is witnessing the slow restoration of one collapsed state - after more than two decades of anarchic conditions in Somalia - it may be facing the collapse of another.
The small country of Eritrea, only 20 years after gaining independence from Ethiopia, has emerged as one of the largest sources of refugees in Africa - as well as one of the most militarised societies in the world. It is increasingly displaying signs of withering state structures and an unsustainable humanitarian situation.

Although Eritrea is sometimes referred to as the North Korea of Africa, a more appropriate point of comparison may be Somalia and its descent into civil war. The already fragile security conditions in Eritrea's neighbouring states means that its collapse could have major implications for regional stability.

The Eritrean state has, since a 1998 border war with Ethiopia, been caught in a negative spiral of autocracy and deteriorating conditions. President Isaias Afewerki - the only leader this young nation has known - used the threat posed by Ethiopia as a pretext to eliminate all domestic opposition and indefinitely defer implementing the constitution and holding elections. Meanwhile, Eritrean society has been almost totally militarised. An indefinite, compulsory and universal military conscription policy applies to most of Eritrea's adult population. Its army is now one of the largest on the continent, and has the highest number of military personnel per capita in the world next to North Korea. In 2011, Afewerki took the additional step of arming a large section of the civilian population believed to be loyal to his party, the People's Front for Democracy and Justice.

Although huge amounts of resources have been devoted to Eritrea's military, the institution appears to be split by personal and group rivalries, both within the leadership and between the rank-and-file and the leadership. Political power is very much personalised in contemporary Eritrea, and remains largely in the hands of the president and a handful of military generals, who are rivalling and contesting each other over power, influence and control over financial resources. Her er regjeringsplattformen
