Jailed Ethiopian journalist loses appeal over rebel ties

An Ethiopian journalist lost an appeal on Tuesday against a five-year prison sentence for her role in promoting subversive plots by a rebel group.
Reyot Alemu, a columnist at the now-defunct Feteh newspaper, and fellow journalist Woubishet Taye were found guilty a year ago of conspiring to participate in attacks under the orders of rebel groups and sentenced to 14 years behind bars. The pair were arrested in July 2011. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/01/08/us-ethiopia-media-trial-idUSBRE9070QC20130108
