Ten-man Ethiopia battled hard to claim a hard fought draw against Zambia in an entertaining Group C opening match in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.
The east Africans had goalkeeper Jemal Tessaw sent off ten minutes before the break for a harsh tackle and suffered more misery by conceding a goal on the stroke of half-time through Collins Mbesuma‘s well taken volley.
However, Adane Girma secured an equaliser with 25 minutes to play as the two teams shared the spoils in a result that will leave the Chipolopolo disappointed.
The tournament defending champions seemed to settle quickly at the 41,000 seater Mbombela Stadium, and instantly curved out the first chance of the game through Stopilla Sunzu’s long range shot after two minutes, but that failed to trouble Ethiopia custodian Tessaw. http://indepthafrica.com/afcon-2013-result-zambia-0-0-ethiopia/
